Parish Council
Purpose:
The purpose of the Council is best
described in the terms of Vatican II: "Councils...through the
cooperation of clergy and religious with the laity,
can assist the apostolic work of the Church both in evangelizing and sanctifying,
and in charitable and social work." (Decree on the Lay
Apostolate #26).
Function:
- The function of the Council shall be:
- to advise and assist the pastor or
the team ministry in the administration and development of spiritual and material
matters in the parish
- to encourage a more prominent lay
involvement in the life of the parish community
- to establish an serve as a medium
of communication between the parish staff and the laity in furthering the
spiritual and material needs of the parish community
- to co-operate with other religious
and civic organizations in serving the community at large
- All policies developed and defined by the Council and its
Constitution as established and amended, shall be consistent with the
policies and directives of the Archdiocese of Hartford
All meetings
are held in the St. James lower Church starting at 7pm. ALL interested
parishioners are welcome to attend.
